Eco-buildings is an energy demonstration initiative of the European Commission (DG TREN) within the sixth Framework Programme. This is a common portal for four Eco-buildings demonstration projects: SARA, Eco-Culture, Demohouse and BRITA in Pubs).

European Display™ Campaign
The European Display™ Campaign is a voluntary scheme designed by energy experts from 20 European towns and cities. It is aimed at encouraging local authorities to publicly display the energy and environmental performances of their public buildings using the same energy label that is used for household appliances. The idea is to engage citizens and make them more conscious of their energy consumption in order to reduce energy use and greenhouse gas emissions and achieve financial savings.

IMPACT
IMPACT aims to support National actors with the implementation of the European Energy Performance in Buildings Directive and to contribute to the preparation of market actors for the introduction of energy labelling in 2006. Within the Impact project energy labeling will be tested in 6 National tests.

Greenbuildings, Improved Energy Efficiency for Non-Residencial Buildings
The GreenBuilding Programme (GBP) aims at improving the energy efficiency and expanding the integration of renewable energies in non-residential buildings in Europe. The programme addresses owners of non-residential buildings to realise cost-effective measures which enhance the energy efficiency of their buildings in one or more technical disciplines. The pilot phase is a project supported by the European Commission’s Intelligent Energy Europe Programme.

This web site illustrates the practical case of an Eco-building, developed and built 2004-2005, by "lavolva", a private environmental services company, for its own use. The fusion of the architectural project of Miquel Sitjŕ and the in-house engineering project combines the needs of the company and sustainability criteria that include lifecycle analysis of materials, energy and water use, integration in the local environment, adaptation to the local climatic conditions and a flexible concept of the internal space so that the building will be able to adapt to any future organisational changes in the company.
CONCERTO
The CONCERTO initiative, launched by the European Commission, is a Europe wide initiative proactively addressing the challenges of creating a more sustainable future for Europe’s energy needs. Today, there are a total of 28 communities in 9 projects, each working to deliver the highest possible level of self-supply of energy. CONCERTO is part of the 6th framework research programme supervised by the DG Energy and Transport of the European Commission.
